Karl X Gustav's Wall: King Karl X Gustav had the wall built (in the 1650s) to keep all the animal within a certain area so he could have a nice private hunting ground. The wall stretches for 5 km across the island. Oland was designated as a Royal Hunting Ground from 1569 - 1801.
