August 16...(Day 24)...Homeward Bound

Train Ride: We traveled by train and bus to Arlanda Airport, north of Stockholm, for our journey home. We were rather tired, but Amanda's fancy hat really perked us up!
Plane location over Iceland: We flew over the southern portion of Iceland to Keflavik Airport.
View over Iceland: We had to change planes in Iceland for our final trek to the USA. It was quite cloudy out, so I only got a few good views of Iceland.
Greenland: Our plane flew over the most southern reaches of Greenland, and I was on the wrong side of the plane. All I got to see was open ocean. I was craning to see out the windows on the opposite side of the plane. Finally, Amanda took pity on me and let me out of my window seat to roam the isles of the plane until I found a couple who would let me lean over them to look out their window. Angela De Mott (of California) snapped this photo of Greenland for me. There were mountains for as far as you could see. WOW! By the way, the De Motts had spent 2.5 weeks trekking and camping around the coast of Iceland. They lent me their camera so I could drool over their wonderful photos. I am definitely making Iceland my next overseas trip. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. De Mott for your hospitality.
Wide-eyed and Bushy Tailed: While my travel companions slept, I was busy taking photos and getting more excited about landing in Boston, and returning home to Maine. Here is my self-portrait. This photo truly represents me during the entire trip. It was absolutely amazing, and so ends my Sweden journey. I had an unforgettable trip, met lots of wonderful people, and have memories to last a lifetime. Special thanks goes to my friend and teammate, Amanda, for inviting me to be her travel buddy.
