Karingon: We arrived at the island of Karingon, our ultimate destination, which was the outermost island of the trip. Karingon is a little island off of Orust with a population of about 100 permanent residents. It has been an important fishing village since the 1600s. Over time, the main activity on the island changed from fishing to tourism. We departed the boat, and had a few hours of fun walking around the island. I absolutely adore these wooden fishing boats. I saw quite a few of them in this harbor, and zipping around on the fjords.

Karingon House: While Amanda's family had some fika and went for a swim, I took off and hiked part of the island. I came upon this charming house, with a fenced-in yard, so typical of island homes. It is at this point that I must apologize to UllaBritt for causing her undo worry. I had promised that I would be back at the boat at a certain time, and I got so involved in sightseeing, that I was late. As it was, I had to run back to the harbor to catch the boat just before it sailed. I really would have been in trouble if I had to wait for another ferry the next day. But, I made it back to the boat just in the nick of time.
